Hailing from “Crown City” Coronado, California, Jason V. Paguio is a six-time World Champion Drum Major with the globally acclaimed Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. Since first coming to New Orleans in 2012, Jason has returned nearly every year, becoming a familiar presence on the parade route. Whether riding with the Krewe of Okeanos or marching with the Kilts of Many Colours Bagpipes & Drums, his dedication to the Crescent City and its Carnival traditions has made New Orleans feel like a second home. One of his most unforgettable Mardi Gras moments? Launching his drum major mace clean over the Bourbon Street traffic lights.
Back home in San Diego, Jason is a small business owner and nonprofit CEO dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs. A passionate civic leader, he serves on the boards of the San Diego Opera, Arts District Liberty Station, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Diego Community Housing Corporation, LEAD San Diego, the Burnham Center for Community Advancement and the University Club Atop Symphony Towers. He is currently completing his MBA at the University of San Diego.
From the parade route to the boardroom, Jason brings energy, leadership, and heart to everything he does — and similarly to the civic-minded business leaders who founded the Krewe of Okeanos in 1949, he brings that same spirit to the throne as King of Okeanos LXXVI.
